We placed the girl with Geo's breeder, Dawn Edge in New Jersey. One boy, Lil Boy Blue with friends of the sire's owners, Willow Run, North Carolina. The Remaining 2 boys, Tobin is close to 135 lbs at 9 months and Moses has just spent the last three months in training with Texas handler Michael Brantley. Moses and Mike hit shows in Texas, New Mexico & California. Moses gained 2 points towards his CH and was awarded a G3 in an all breed puppy specialty.

Geo made her first show appearance in Topeka, KS in August and won 3 points as WB on three days out of 4. She appears to have recovered well from her ACL surgery and after whelping she maintained width and matured to a 165 pounds.

The end of 2010 she remained in North Carolina at the home and kennel of her mate Willow Run Exodus, while I toured Europe and became more acquainted with Mojo's Bulldogs in the Netherlands. We are excited about 2011 and we are making plans to get her out again, and to send her sons out as well. Look for another breeding either Spring of 2011 or later in the year.

Houston 2009

We arrived in the mid west late in June. We were entered in the Houston show, so we made a slow trek down south stopping in Dallas for their show and to celebrate the 4 th of July. Then on to San Antonio, a favorite city of mine. Next Houston, where "Geo" was excused for being lame. She was checked out and it appears we have some "ACL" issues to now deal with. From Houston we made our way north through Longview, Texas. Stopping at a great buffet I discovered in Humble last fall. Spent 2 days in Ligget for maintenance and re loading as I acquired a few new pieces of equipment.

While in the KC area we will plan out what to do about the "ACL" issue and look for other dogs to show in future events.

Dissapointment...

We were unable to attend the Trenton show...

Congratulations to everyone who made it, and to the winners...

Training For Trenton 2009

We are getting ready for the Trenton Kennel Club show first weekend in May. First you decide how you want the dog to fit into your life, then you select the breed that most closely fits your needs. If you determine you want a mastiff then you chose well and please feel free to contact me to begin or continue your search for your puppy.

As it says above, mastiffs were bred to guard estates. This is not to say you need 100 rolling acres and a 45 room mansion. "The Estate" is hearth, home, possessions and family. Your mastiff has a born & bred desire to guard the estate of his or her family. This is why early obedience training is so critical. Your mastiff will select a place to lounge where they can observe and guard. When alerted, they will respond to protect. The majority will stand tall and by appearance alone intimidate any stranger from advancing without permission. The minority will be more aggressive, and will require obedience so as to be quickly called to a calm and accepting state of mind.

No one can guarantee you a perfect puppy. Many health related issues that can not be cured are only recently being weeded out by selective breeding. It is important that you deal with only breeders who test to be certain the puppy is sound and healthy.

Hips are a funny thing. I have no faith in preliminary tests. A mastiff's hips are not actually set until they are older than 2 years. In many cases a female should be be bred until she is close to 3, however many breed groups and clubs recommend no earlier than 22 months. As someone who will only breed sparingly - I will have only the cream of the crop of future mastiffs. This is why I will mostly be breeding my mastiffs to one or two other lines, from breeders who have established a proven track record of healthy and loving animals, free from disease and short lived lives.

I breed for soundness of body, mind and spirit, and the trueness of purpose and function. So if you want a mastiff that is healthy, strong, alert able to guard and slobber all over it's loved ones, you are just like me.

To talk more about mastiffs please feel free to contact me jerseykev@aol.com or call 732.665.6583.

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Georgeanne english mastiff owned by Rev.
